Plantarum rariorum horti caesari schoenbrunnensis, a work of four volumes, of which the first two were published in 1797, the third in 1798, and the fourth in 1804. The descriptions are of plants cultivated in the royal garden at the Palace of Schönbrunn near Vienna. This garden had been established in the 18th century by the Empress Maria Theresa and her husband, the Emperor Francis I. The volumes contain 500 colored copper engravings which are the work of Johannes Scharf and Martin Sedelmayer.
