 - Afbeeldingen van zeldzaame gewassen
Published: Te Leyden : By Johannes le Mair, 1775.
Nicolaas Meerburgh (1734-1814) was a Dutch botanist and curator of the Leiden Botanical Garden from 1774-1814. The Garden is fortunate to own this rare work, which is one of three known, published in 1775 by Johannes le Mair of Leiden. There are fifty hand colored plates with an attendant butterfly drawn and engraved by Meerburgh himself. The book is printed in folio and bound in contemporary half calf. The textual pages at the front of the book contain names and brief descriptions of the plants and butterflies.
